Christmas Pictures

Well it wouldn't be the holidays without a few Christmas pictures to share.  Here's the little Christmas tree on the front steps of the Church and the manger scene from inside in front of the altar.   You can see how tall Moș Craciun is compared to my friend Stephanie.  And here are the neighbor children singing Colindi (carols) outside our door.  It's a little like our "trick or treat" tradition.  The children are hoping for candy or money for their visit.  The TV has the high holy liturgy of Christmas from the national Cathedral.  The family is gathered around the table for a day of feasting, and playing   And there's even room for cake.  Yes, the cake is topped with tangerine slices.  Something Sergiu made the night before.  Time to bundle up and head for home.   Time to blow out the last candle of Christmas.  Merry Craciun to all, and to all a noapte bună!

  1. Wonderful pictures! I love that first one of the church! And in the house, the lace on the windows and table and above the door! Looks like lots of warmth and joy.
And did you know that in Polish, the word for "carols" is "kolȩdy" (pronounced sort of like kolendy.) I wonder if that's a bit of slavic creeping into Romanian? Or is it Romanian creeping into the Polish?
