Vacation- Part 9. More Vienna

Today's blog is about two places to visit in Vienna.  First the Belvidere Palace and secondly the Church of St Charles.  Once you go behind the modest entrance off a regular traffic street you are amazed at a vast lawn and garden.  The space is landscaped with high hedges, and statues, and fountains, and sculptures.  One is overwhelmed at the largeness of it all.  And this was the summer home of Eugene of Savoy.  The building was started about 1700.  The second place to visit is Karlskirche or the Church of St Charles.  Here too one is amazed by size and the intense art that covers every corner of it.  What a contrast the modern art sculpture makes just outside in the reflection pool.  Next time we'll attend a concert and visit the Cathedral of St Stephan.
