Berlin is truly a city rich in museums. We began our touring at the Gemalde galeria which is an art museum full of the European masters. If you don't use your flash, you can take all the pictures you want. I chose a few of the many I took to share with you here. Next we went to Museum Island which is a part of the city and an actual island formed by the Schpre river just full of museums and the Berlin Cathedral. The cathedral is immense. It's size alone is awesome. Inside some of the most beautiful art and paintings. We were lucky enough to catch someone practicing the pipe organ. That sound had some real power behind it. We took the challenge to walk up to the dome walkway which is 9 stories up...stairs all the way. Once at the top the view of the city was spectacular as we looked from behind giant statues at the city below. The other museums on the island are grand looking buildings with stairways and columns like the ancient ruins they house within. The names of them are the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte National Galerie, the Pergamon Museum, and the Bode Museum. We spent a good part of three days exploring these wonderul archives of treasure. I hope you enjoy the few representative pictures shared here. Sculptures of Greece and Rome, Egypt and Babylon. I thought it fitting to end my blog today with the first family, Adam and Eve. A loving couple, but they started so much trouble.
